Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, located on 1.31 acres in Montecito, began burials in 1881 with the interment of Raymundo Lopez and operated until 1918. There is no cemetery office on-site, and no records are available. Visitor access is restricted due to the private property rights of neighboring owners. On-site parking is not available.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is recognized as the patroness of the Carmelite Order. This devotion originated in the late 12th and early 13th centuries when Christian hermits lived on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land, where they built and dedicated a chapel to the Blessed Virgin.
Inspired by the prophet Elijah, Pope Honorius III officially approved the Carmelite Order in 1226. Elijah, known for his fervent faith and significant role in the Old Testament, is an important figure in Carmelite tradition, symbolizing the Order's commitment to prayer, contemplation, and service.
The feast day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is celebrated on July 16th. It was chosen in the late 14th century to honor Mary for her protection and guidance of the Carmelite Order. Over the centuries, devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel has spread worldwide, leading to many churches, cemeteries, and communities dedicated to her.

Special intentions are offered for those recently served by our Catholic Cemeteries and Mortuaries. RECongress draws Catholics from across the nation and around the globe. It is provided by the Office of Religious Education, a department of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Initially, it started as an "Institute" of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) in 1956, but it evolved into the three-day "Congress" format in 1967 and will celebrate its 70th anniversary next year. The 2025 Congress in Anaheim was a vibrant and inspiring event that brought together the Catholic community for four days of faith, learning, and connection. The annual event began with Youth Day on February 19, followed by three days dedicated to adult formation. This year's program featured over 140 English, Spanish, and Vietnamese workshops.
